Alignment 101

Rajahatha Yoga
Rajahatha Yoga is the combination of two types of yoga. Raja Yoga is based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras of which the main focus is calming the mind. Hatha Yoga is the physical practices of yoga with a focus on preparing the body and mind for Raja Yoga. Each class will explore the traditional practices of asana, pranayama, mudra and meditation in a modern and invigorating way meant to culminate in Nada; or the un-struck sound within us all. Expect to move around a little and sit quietly for a bit savoring the motion of life.

Yin Yoga
Yin yoga takes the approach of stretching deeper layers of connective tissue to improve flexibility and hydration of the joints and tissues. The use of props supports the body in longer, deeper holds of specific, tailored poses. Usually the lower back and hips are targeted areas of concentration. The practice can also promote deep release of stress and tension from the body and mind.

Gentle Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow
This slower-Vinyasa class focuses on improving alignment and allowing transitions between poses to flow effortlessly during practice.

Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga uses movement, sound current, breath and meditation to relax and heal your mind and body, allowing the spirit to flow freely by opening the pathways of the mind and body to invoke feelings of well-being and happiness. We begin the class by tuning into our highest selves, allowing our inner guidance to lead us deeper within, and open awareness to the body and mind connection. Once connected in, we have a greater ability to move, shift and unblock the energy of the body through movement and breath. This powerful and effective form of Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga, is a great way to recharge and heal your body quickly by stimulating the nervous and immune systems, while improving strength and flexibility, as it centers the mind and opens the spirit.  A typical Kundalini Yoga class starts and ends with beautiful and ancient chants to open and calm the heart, proceeding into a carefully planned sequence of postures, movements, breathwork  and meditation that bring about quick and powerful transformation on all levels. From the very first class, students begin to experience results including relief from back pain, stress, addiction, depression and insomnia and weight control. Kundalini Yoga is open to all levels.

Satsang- Meditation on Truth

Sun Mountain Sangha
We have been drawn together by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh.We enjoy sitting together with the intention of increasing peace in ourselves and in the world around us. All levels of practitioners are welcome to join us. Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled. Cushions & mats or chairs are provided. Our format includes a brief welcome followed by 20 minutes of guided meditation & 10 minutes of walking meditation.  We have another 20 minutes of sitting, followed by 20 minutes of dharma discussion.

It’s Time to Move
Suellen incorporates EASY AND FUN movements and YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC into her classes. Her passion for creating effective exercises led her to complete both MA and PhD degrees in Exercise Physiology. During her PhD studies, Suellen traveled the world as she studied Yoga in India, Tai Chi in China, hiking in Japan, and dance in Argentina and Africa to learn how people keep moving as they age. She individualizes classes for each person’s specific needs. Each class incorporates the scientifically proven requirements for a total exercise program: aerobic endurance, strength, flexibility, balance and stress-reduction. Twice a week is all it takes! Suellen’s goal is to keep us strong, flexible, and energetic as we age.
